About the Puerto Plata City Tour

A visit to Amber Cove Port is not complete if you do not visit Puerto Plata City and its beautiful Beach in Cosita Rica. Enjoy Puerto Plata with Marysol Tours and its Puerto Plata City Tour!!. Take pleasure with the sights of Puerto Plata, then relax at a beautiful beach at 10 minutes from the port!!!

Puerto Plata, officially known as San Felipe de Puerto Plata, is the ninth-largest city in the Dominican Republic. Is the capital of the province of Puerto Plata, a trading port city known for its resorts. There are 100,000 hotel beds in the city and is the host of the first aerial tramway of the Caribbean. Visitors can ride up to the Pico Isabel de Torres, a 793 meter high mountain within the city.

Its Central Park has turned into the most popular meeting point in Puerto Plata. Indeed, its beautiful park, also known as Independence Square is a national symbol. Was constructed as a tribute to general Gregorio Luperón. He offered this beautiful park to the city of Puerto Plata, when it was the Dominican capital city.

Pintoresque creativity, colors and sightseeing adventures are waiting at the Puerto Plata City Tour!!

At about 100 meters from the Central Park on Duarte street you’ll find The Amber Museum. An outstanding example of Victorian architecture which houses a unique collection of valuable Dominican amber samples. Experts say this amber, known to be the most transparent in the world, qualifies as semiprecious. Formed from tree sap that has hardened for millions of years, capturing many fossils of plants and insect life.

Puerto Plata’s residents proudly state that theirs is the most beautiful seafront boulevard (Malecón) in the Dominican Republic. Afterwards, you’ll realize why when you see the multiple white sand beaches that line the city’s main avenue, each bearing a name. Aside from days at the beach right within the city, the boulevard’s long, shaded sidewalk is ideal for morning or evening strolls –sunrises here are spectacular–.

At the very end of the boulevard rests a key piece of Puerto Plata’s history, the Fortaleza San Felipe. Built by the Spaniards in the 16th century to defend the north coast of the Dominican Republic from the British and Dutch, and from French pirates in search of the area’s abundant gold and silver. Considered one of the most important colonial military structures in the Caribbean, completed in 1577, later served as a prison and now a museum. Touring the fort reveals the original cannons facing the Atlantic, ancient weapons, and numerous hidden chambers.

The Puerto Plata City Tour offers you the possibility to discover the Paradise in Dominican Republic!!

Afterwards, we will visit the Del Oro Chocolate Factory in which you’ll see how is the handmade Dominican Chocolate made. You will experience the quality of the organic Chocolate made by 100% cocoa beans harvested in the Dominican Republic soil. Furthermore you’ll experience the taste of Puerto Plata Rum made at Vinicola del Norte, house of the great Macorix Rum.

After a brief yet comprehensive look at Puerto Plata you will be on to Cosita Rica Beach –about a 10 minutes drive away-. Then you may relax and take a swim in the inviting water or enjoy a stroll along the beach of Puerto Plata.
